Summer 2026 Workshops at EIYC

We are delighted to welcome two exceptional teachers to the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre this summer, offering students the opportunity to deepen their understanding, refine their practice and learn from highly experienced practitioners.

Workshops with Sushama

Tuesday 15th & Wednesday 16th July | 2.00pm – 4.00pm

We are thrilled to welcome Sushama back to the Centre this summer.

Sushama has been studying at the Ramamani Memorial Iyengar Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, for over 23 years under the guidance of Guruji, Geetaji and other members of the Iyengar family. She taught the Senior Citizens' and Minor Ailments classes at RIMYI for more than a decade and currently teaches Beginners and Intermediate classes there.

Her extensive experience, gentle approach and depth of knowledge make her a much-loved teacher and we are delighted to have this opportunity to study with her once again.

Tuesday 15th July | Asana & Pranayama

2.00pm – 4.00pm £40

This workshop will explore the relationship between asana and pranayama, helping students develop a deeper understanding of how posture, alignment and awareness support the practice of breath.

Suitable for teachers and students with a minimum of one year's Iyengar Yoga experience.

Wednesday 16th July | Minor Ailments Workshop

2.00pm – 4.00pm £40

Drawing on her many years of teaching the Minor Ailments classes at RIMYI, Sushama will share practical approaches to working with common conditions and areas of discomfort, including:

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Knee issues

  • Hip discomfort

  • Back problems

  • General stiffness and mobility concerns

This workshop is open to all Iyengar Yoga practitioners and will offer valuable insights into adapting practice to support health and wellbeing.

Don't Miss: Intermediate Workshop with Garth McLean

Thursday 18th June | 2.00pm – 4.30pm

We are honoured to welcome Garth McLean, a Senior Level Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT Level 3 – Intermediate Senior III), Certified Yoga Therapist and Approved Professional Development Provider with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT).

Based in Los Angeles, Garth teaches internationally, offering public classes and specialist courses throughout the world. Following his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 1996, he has continued to live and teach with remarkable dedication, using the principles and practice of Iyengar Yoga to successfully manage his condition while maintaining a demanding international teaching schedule.

His teaching combines technical precision, thoughtful sequencing and practical insight, informed by decades of personal experience and study.

Workshop Details

Date: Thursday 18th June
Time: 2.00pm – 4.30pm
Cost: £40

Suitable for: Teachers and intermediate students with a minimum of three years' Iyengar Yoga experience. A regular inversions practice is required.

Content: Garth will be teaching poses from the Level 2 and Level 3 syllabi.
