August Workshops & A Class That’s Making a Big Difference 💫

Dr. Rajlaxmi Nidmarti’s Visit – 15–17 August (Fully Booked!)

We are absolutely delighted about the upcoming visit of Dr. Rajlaxmi Nidmarti, a senior teacher from our mother institute, RIMYI in Pune, who will be teaching in Edinburgh and Inverness this August.

Her three workshops at the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre (EIYC) from 15–17 August filled up almost instantly as we expected! It’s such an honour to welcome a teacher of her calibre and we’re so looking forward to this very special opportunity to study with her in person.

If you didn’t manage to secure a spot but would like to join the waitlist, please contact us at edinburghiyengarworkshops@gmail.com.

Cancellations can happen closer to the time and we’ll get in touch with waitlist members first if places become available.

Spotlight on Clare’s Friday Class: A Gentle Way Back In

We’ve recently received wonderful feedback about Clare’s Continuing Beginners Class on Fridays 12–1pm and we wanted to take a moment to highlight this gem of a class, especially for those who may be easing back into yoga or looking for a shorter, more supportive space to practise.

Here’s what our lovely administrator, Linda, had to say:

“I’ve been attending Clare's Friday lunchtime class regularly since February, after a series of minor injuries over the winter. It’s been such a steadying and positive part of my week — a real turning point in my return to regular practice.”

And she’s not alone! Here’s what other students have shared about this class:

“I moved to this class after a couple of nasty falls on top of existing injuries. It’s been a revelation and has developed my yoga practice in a positive way.”

“The pace is perfect. Clare’s detailed guidance and expertise make complex poses accessible.”

“This class helped me improve my balance and mobility and boosted my confidence in moving again.”

“I appreciate the emphasis on proper technique and the use of props — it helped me deepen my practice safely.”

“The class leaves me feeling both energised and relaxed, with a sense of accomplishment and inner peace.”

“After a long absence, I didn’t think I could do yoga anymore. This class made it accessible. The pace was perfect.”

“I’ve been attending classes at EIYC for 24 years, and I think this may be the most profoundly helpful class we offer. Clare is an exceptionally tolerant, knowledgeable, and caring teacher. She meets students where they are, offering intelligent use of props and simple movements to help rebuild confidence, strength, and trust in the body.”

🧘‍♀️ Why This Class Might Be Right for You

  • Perfect for those recovering from injury or illness

  • Ideal for anyone who benefits from a smaller class size (max. 10 students)

  • Focused attention from Clare in a calm, encouraging space

  • Tailored support for complex mobility needs or physical challenges

  • A steady, accessible pace to rebuild confidence and strength

Whether you're returning to yoga after some time away or simply prefer a gentler approach, Fridays at noon could be just what you need.

If you’d like book into Clare’s class, head to our website and book your space. And as always, thank you for being part of the EIYC community, we’re so grateful for each and every one of you.

Warm wishes,
Stephanie
on behalf of the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre
