Sushama’s July workshop: feedback from a student
I felt so lucky that I was able to get a place at Sushama’s workshop this summer. I particularly enjoyed the “Minor Ailments” day where she showed us ways of managing to practice asanas whilst recovering from injury or strain or some other condition such as joint pain and arthritis.
But whatever Sushama was teaching, she did it with such energy and good humour, smiling and encouraging us and making jokes in a very warm and wonderful way.
I had been a bit nervous that the days were mostly for teachers and that I would feel out of place, but it was quite the opposite. There were teachers there studying from Sushama’s practice, but there were also many members of the centre of varying experience all catered for and all encouraged and assisted.
We used quite a lot of equipment which was really interesting — just to see how it could help you get the benefit of an asana when you maybe couldn’t do it quite as it looks in the book!
And Sushama’s son, a practicing physio therapist was amazingly helpful in demonstrating and assisting throughout the class.
I very much hope she will come again. I’ll be there! And can hardly recommend it enough.
