Mario’s Retreat in Crete: feedback by Kate Bulloch

Why would you not go on a Marios Yoga retreat ? You might be feeling a bit trepidatious about a new teacher or a new place? Will the classes be too strong ? Will Marios understand your individual needs? Will you be in a class with other students who are the Gods gift to yoga?

Will the sea be too cold, rough or too far from the hotel? Will the accommodation be comfy? Will the food be okay?

To be honest, I can’t really think of any other worries or concerns anyone might have.

Let me put you at ease for all of the above — Marios is the most wonderful teacher. He gives you the gift of a class that is not only well constructed but shows you how to use all of your physical self so your inner self can be set free and thrive. He is understanding and kind and reminds me of an elf, although he might not like that last comment.

The ocean is as wonderful as always, 2 minutes from the spotlessly clean and comfortable accommodation. — the owners daughters left each of us freshly baked honey, lemon cake.

I went for a swim every morning to welcome the sun on my face in calm ,warm waters. The cycle to the studio among the scents of olive groves and flowers was a joy. The taverna next door has delicious food, as does the other nearby restaurants - meals shared with other yogis is a lasting memory and pleasure.

If there is a concern I’ve missed, Sophie is at hand and believe me, she can sort most things.

I hear that Marios may be in Edinburgh next year — go if you can, and of course, a Marios and Sophie Yoga retreat is a time to look forward to and to treasure.
