This is a 'face to face' class at The Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre.

We are teaching a limited number of classes at the Centre and limiting the number of students to ensure 2m spacing between each person on their mat.

Of course, things are a little different when you come to class at the Centre.

  • Centre Classes will be limited to a maximum of 12 places with fewer classes initially.
  • You must bring your own equipment
  • You must arrive dressed for your class to minimise time in the changing room.

INTRODUCTORY/BEGINNERS COURSE
Our Introductory/Beginners Courses are for absolute beginners with no previous experience of yoga. Each class will introduce you to some of the key poses and gradually build up your confidence and ability.
You do not need to worry about already having equipment to bring to class.
We shall provide you with a mat, blocks and a belt for the course. This will be for your personal use during the course and will be stored safely in the Centre between classes. Your equipment will not be used by any other student.
Since the classes follow on from each other, you pay for the whole of the current block. For these courses, it is not possible to "try" a class or join part way through the course.

Professional profile

I did my first yoga class when I was 17, and still remember the detailed Savasana my first teacher taught me.

In the early classes I enjoyed stretching into the poses and the feeling of relaxation at the end of a practice. I did yoga on and off for several years, until I found Iyengar yoga at the EYIC over 25 years ago, and then my yoga practice began to develop beyond the stretching. I have been coming to regular classes here since.

The Iyengar method and my teachers at the centre, encourage and challenge my yoga practice. I gained my Introductory Certificate in 2011. Yoga both anchors and energises me, and practising always provides me with a sense of physical and emotional well being. I feel both privileged and amazed to be teaching yoga to others.
