Class Standards

Level 1 classes are suitable for absolute beginners and also for students who wish to consolidate their yoga practice at this foundation level. Teaching is arranged so that new students can start attending classes at any point in the term.

Level 2 classes are for students who have attended beginners’ classes for at least a year, concentrating on hard work on basic asanas. Head balance will be introduced. The class marked * will concentrate on yoga for older people and others who wish to sustain a level of practice using props.

Level 3 classes are for students who have attended regularly for at least two years and who feel ready to begin intermediate poses and consolidate the inverted poses. Students working at this level are advised to develop a regular home practice. Classes may be one and three quarter or two hours long.

Level 4 this class is for serious students who have developed a daily practice and wish to continue to work in more detail on basic and intermediate poses. Classes are 2 hours long.

Teachers A class for Iyengar Yoga teachers only which will be geared to the teaching and practise of introductory and intermediate level asanas. This year's trainee teachers may attend.
